Massage Therapy
Massage at Noyau Wellness Center is designed to offer relaxation while also providing the rejuvenative effects of bodywork. Regular massage allows for increased circulation and production of neurotransmitters that help us feel more energized and balanced as we go through our hectic lives. At Noyau Wellness, we feel that treating the mind without treating the body is why so many forms of therapy seem to get us to a certain point but never to a state of contentment. If we only address our mental state, and our biology is unstable, our mental state will never heal. If we only address our biology, and our mental state is unstable, then our biology will never heal. We recognize both are one, so we have integrated several forms of bodywork into our practice.
Why Body Work?
Bodywork plays an essential role in psychological health. Our mind and body are not separate, they are connected and create balance or imbalance depending on how we perceive of, and exist in, the world of experience. Our biology, and the physical structure of our body, was not designed to live in the world we created. The physical and emotional stresses we experience are different, and more complex, than at any other time in history. The majority of us experience heightened emotional states of thought that are prolonged over long periods of time. Anxiety, anger, depression, worry, these are all chemicals that our mind releases into our neurosystem to create a biological reaction. They affect our respiration, circulation, digestion, hormone production, muscle tissue, and even our sex drive. In order to flush these chemicals out of our bio system we need to drink water, eat energetic foods, move and stretch to circulate our lymphatic system, and distance ourselves from any negative stimulus. Instead, the majority of us become sedentary, while forcing our mind to disconnect by distracting ourselves with food, books, music, television, and some form of chemical to wake us up or calm us down. Some of us fill our lives with some form of physical activity that is actually detrimental to our body, but continue doing it because it is our chosen form of escape. If we are sedentary our biology becomes toxic and dysfunctional. If we are overactive our body finds itself in a constant state of repair, which leads to chronic injuries. Treating the mind without treating the body is why so many forms of therapy seem to get us to a certain point, but never to a state of contentment. If we only address our mental state, and our biology is unstable, our mental state will never heal. If we only address our biology, and our mental state is unstable, then our biology will never heal. This is why we have integrated several forms of bodywork into our practice because we recognize both are one.
Rejuvenation
The massage bodywork we offer has been designed to rejuvenate and detoxify. Our therapist, with over nine years of experience using rehabilitative massage, combined with his overseas training in advanced stretching techniques and energy work, has created an hour and a half massage designed to give the maximum amount of benefit in the shortest amount of time. This massage is designed to rejuvenate you body and help heal its imbalances to better assist you in your therapy. It reduces and relives the damaging effects of anger, anxiety, worry, and other negative emotions that reek havoc on your biology. The massage is designed to be pain free, and it addresses specific problems within the muscle and nervous system while detoxing the lymphatic system at the same time. If you are experiencing specific issues like TMJ, migraines, or chronic back and hip pain then the process will require specific techniques that may take up to two hours or multiple sessions. While bodywork is not a requirement for therapy, it is highly recommended, and after three sessions we know you will feel the difference.
Relaxation
It has been said that up to ninety percent of disease is stress related. Our fast paced, multi-tasking lifestyles offer us little time for rest and relaxation. Many clients report difficulty slowing down and fully experiencing joy in the here and now. A general inability to rest and relax leaves the body feeling tired, anxious and never complete. Prioritizing one’s self-care is an essential part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Only when we have fully met our own needs are we able to fully meet the needs of others. For this reason the therapists of Noyau Wellness encourage you take make pampering yourself part of your regular routine.
Maintenance stage
The goal of any beneficial form of therapy is to eventually move you from the reactive stage into the maintenance stage. This stage is something that is often over looked in western society. We seem to maintain an “it’s the squeaky wheel that gets the grease” perception of health. Our lives are filled with so much stimulus that something has to break down in order to get our attention. This is why we are such a reactive culture. In Thailand, for example, bodywork is seen as a preventative form of therapy, something they do to keep from becoming imbalanced. In the west, massage is seen as something to fix a problem rather than prevent it from happening in the first place. Once the body is brought back to a state of balance, a client would benefit by living a preventative, rather than a reactive, lifestyle. This would include things like receiving a monthly massage to detoxify the body, yoga, nutrition, and other life changes. It is the goal of our therapists to assist you through this transition process and so that you may create a lifestyle that will help your mind and body live more peacefully by creating a more harmonious existence.
